How did you first begin DJing/Producing?
I first began to DJ when I was 11 years old. The great Chicago DJ ‘s such as Bad Boy Bill and Tim Spinnin’ Shommer inspired me. I bought two technique 1200s and collected a couple of crates. I also dug into my parent’s vinyl and kept some of their records to start me off lol. It was really fun and I fell in love with the craft. I practiced and just experimented for a few months. I then began to DJ at private parties such as birthdays and weddings and just evolved from there.

Who is your biggest influence(s)?
My biggest influences are all of the Chicago old school house DJ’s and many of the greats today such as Steve Smooth, Tchami, and JJ Flores.

What’s your favorite record of all time?
My favorite record has to be Flashbacks Vol. 1 by Bad Boy Bill just because of that classic house and Italo disco style of music.

What was your favorite party of all time that you have played?
My favorite party or event that I have played so far has to be the Nocturnal Lands 5K run that happened at Toyota Park. The energy there was amazing and in front of 5,000 runners it was a blast!

Who do you want to collaborate with in the future?
I want to collaborate with all of the Chicago underground DJ’s that love what they do as well as have passion and respect for the craft.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you at a show?
The most embarrassing thing that has happened to me at a show was pressing the cue button on accident causing the track to play from the beginning lol. At that moment I had to just go with the flow and keep the music going.

What do you like to do when you’re not working on music/DJing?
I like to spend time with my family, girlfriend, and friends. Watching movies and just hanging out is an ideal day when I am not playing music or working on it.

What is your opinion on the current EDM scene?
My opinion of the EDM scene at the moment is both positive and negative. I still feel like a lot of positive vibes are still being shown at shows by the fans that love EDM and the performers themselves. On a negative side of things I have been hearing of big top companies taking over our local shows and venues boosting up ticket sales and not booking local or underground talent.

What do you think will be the next big thing in EDM?
I think the next big thing in EDM will be more producing of tracks while performing live sets. It has been done and is done by many DJ’s around the globe, but I feel like it will become more popular as time goes by and more awesome equipment and instruments come out.

What do you think about all these “frauds” in the EDM scene using ghost producers, buying likes and purchasing their own tracks on Beatport?
All I can say about that is they should be ashamed. The so-called “frauds” should work harder and respect the craft, ultimately they should respect the artists and talent who have had restless nights and worked very hard to be where they are today.

Is there any upcoming releases/shows we should keep an eye out for?
I have a few projects coming up that will be very interesting. One track I have that is coming out will be a jungle style track inspired by the new movie of Jurassic Park. A few shows to look out for would have to be February 7th at Grandbar I will be performing among many of the local DJ’s here in Chicago. The other show is on March 7th at Mojoe’s in Joliet, it will feature 7 hours of music with 18+ DJ’s playing on that night including myself. You can always catch me playing live every Monday night from 6-8 PM and Saturday from 12-2 AM on pureedmradio.com.
