If you live in Chicago chances are you’ve heard of the duo Win and Woo and if you haven’t, you have some catching up to do. in the past few months, these guys have released a number of amazing remixes and have been playing huge shows. This past weekend they played Spring Awakening Music Festival and an after party at the mid with Kaskade. A lot of hype on these guys at the moment and we got a chance to talk with them. Here’s what they had to say.
What made you want to start DJing/producing?
Nick started in 2009 at frat parties just for fun/ love of electronic music. Austin then showed interest and booked us both to play a sorority barn dance. The rest is history.
Who is your biggest influence(s)?
The people around us on a day to day basis. The team of people in Chicago that push us to work smarter and faster. As far
as successful artists go the influence constantly changes with time. Currently, we are heavily influenced by the Chainsmokers and Kygo.
Who do you want to collaborate with?
We are not focused on collaboration just yet. After we have a strong following on our own we will branch out and begin to collab more. The first will most likely be with Milk n Cookies because we already work so much together.
What’s the most embarrassing thing thats happened to you at a show?
Three years ago at summer camp our laptop fell off the stand because we were jumping around to much. It was our biggest show at the time so nerves were high, luckily the music never stopped lol.
What do you like to do when you’re not working on music/DJing?
Hang with family/ friends, grill out, get some sun, and occasionally party…occasionally.
What is your opinion on the current EDM scene?
Not a huge fan of the term “EDM” and we think the scene is changing just as fast as it has over the last year. Lots of people will fall off and success will be harder to come by. Our plan is to play by our own rules and squad
up.
What do you think will be the next big thing in EDM?
The uprise of a powerful Chicago team #impulse
Is there any upcoming releases/shows we should keep an eye out for?
We just released two remixes within the last 2 weeks. We haven’t decided on our next release just yet, but expect on the last week of June. Also look out for new music from Milk n Cookies, Freak Island, and Louis the Child. Gonna be a lot of it coming your way this summer.
